I was recently reminded of how we each have had various things happen to our body. It is unavoidable; we will all have an injury at one time or have something just not work like it used to. Even with knowing we will each have these times, it can be difficult and sometimes we feel like giving up our practice. If there has been one thing I’ve learned through the years is keeping up a practice even if it is just meditation is better than leaving it entirely. You see meditation has great benefits for stabilizing our thoughts and emotions allowing us to live a life that truly aligns with our purpose. The physical side yes, helps our body stay strong and flexible but, if we are unable to do that, don’t we want a strong mind? I’ve found the wonder in meditation and how it can so greatly impact our lives. I think most of you have noticed the change by now of how different you feel at the end of your practice. This is the gift of meditation, that single point focus that allows us to connect inward.
Changes over Time….
Just like in anything we do it evolves and changes over time. Sometimes we have to take a step that changes our practice. Maybe not to our liking but, to better take care of ourselves. I don’t think a class goes by that I don’t remind all of us of taking care of ourselves and listening to our body. This is done not only to create a safer practice but, for us to become more aware of what we need now in our lives. So often, we tend to push ourselves thinking it will all work out to only push ourselves too far causing greater discomfort or pain.
Next time we find ourselves feeling something is off in our body, take a deeper look and assess. Set ego to the side and see if you are doing the right thing for your body. Remember taking that step to change our practice will only allow us that time to get us back to it sooner.
Yes, I’m aware this is easier to say than do. Remember I’m here to help. You can always talk to me before or after class. I also offer both one on one yoga as well as coaching to help you along your path.
